Between December 2024 and January 2025, the EPIK Sport project partners successfully organised a series of Local Training Courses to improve the knowledge and skills of sports coaches and sports medicine students in injury prevention and management.
Each two-day session combined theoretical input, practical exercises and open discussion to create an interactive and engaging learning environment.
The training introduced participants to the EPIK Sport programme, focusing on the importance of injury prevention in youth sports and practical strategies for implementing exercise-based prevention programmes. Workshops covered acute injury management, including the management of sprains, fractures and head injuries.
Throughout the courses, open discussions encouraged collaboration between trainers and medical students, while daily evaluations provided feedback to refine the training modules.
The local training courses marked an important milestone in the delivery of the EPIK education programme, equipping participants with essential skills to promote safer and healthier sporting environments for young athletes.
